The Lost City is one of the year's most anticipated films, and it will be coming to streaming services very soon.
Sandra Bullock stars in the movie as a romance novelist who finds herself trapped in an adventure that seems to be inspired by one of her books. Joining her for the ride is Channing Tatum, the hunky model from her book jackets.
The film comes to theaters later in March – and we already know the streaming service the movie will appear on after its theatrical run.
Here's what we know about the new movie – including when it is expected to be available to watch online.
When Will The Lost City Be Streaming?
Bullock and Tatum's film is coming to theaters in the United States on Friday, March 25 – at which time the countdown starts until it's available on streaming.
But which service will the movie be going to? Sorry, Netflix subscribers – as a movie from Paramount Pictures, the film will be coming to the company's streaming service, Paramount+.
Though this is bad news for subscribers of other services hoping to watch The Lost City, it's good news for viewers wanting to know when the film will be streaming. In February 2021, the company announced that all of its movies would come to Paramount+ between 30 and 45 days after they reached theaters.
So far, Paramount's biggest releases have tended to be released around 45 days after they came to cinemas. Most recently, for example, Jackass Forever came to the streamer on March 22 – exactly 45 days after the film had been released in cinemas.
If The Lost City follows this pattern (and all of the signs point to the fact that it will), that would mean a release date of May 9, 2022.
Will The Lost City Be Streaming for Free?
At time of writing, Paramount+ offers a free trial. New subscribers can get seven days free, giving viewers plenty of time to watch The Lost City as well as other recent Paramount movies like Scream, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin.
After that time, the service offers two tiers of content. The Essential package costs $4.99 a month and includes limited ads, while the $9.99 a month Premium tier has no ads (except on live TV). Subscribers can also save money with the annual plans, which cost $49.99 and $99.99 a year, respectively.
What Is The Lost City About?
The official plot synopsis reads: "Reclusive author Loretta Sage writes about exotic places in her popular adventure novels that feature a handsome cover model named Alan. While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to an ancient city's lost treasure from her latest story. Determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her."
Though the film will be streaming soon, star Daniel Radcliffe told the New York Times that he thinks the cinema is the best place to watch his new movie.
The Harry Potter star said: "With this film specifically, I hope people are in a place where they feel like they can go to the theater and enjoy it, because this is a grab-your-friends-and-go-cheer movie that lends itself to a big communal experience."
