Man Receives Noise Complaint From Neighbor—to Turn the Music Up

Noise complaints are a common enough problem among neighbors, particularly when it comes to music.

However, one Nevada man got a pleasant surprise when he opened a letter sent by his next-door neighbor.

Binh Cao shared the note on Twitter, where it has received close to 500,000 likes and more than 30,000 retweets. The letter was signed by a man called Todd, who said he "would like to discuss your music."

In most cases, what would follow would be a more or less polite request to lower the volume.

However, Todd's letter actually asked Cao to turn up the tunes—and to tell him what music he had been playing.

"Dear neighbor. I live next door and I would like to discuss your music," the letter begins.

"1) Turn it the f*** up. I'm not joking. You play good s***! 2) Tell me what songs you're playing. I need that s*** for my playlist."

The note continues: "3) I'm not being ironic or anything, I've really enjoyed the music you've played since you moved in. Sincerely, Todd (the male part of the couple next door). Send me some songs!"

A handwritten message scrawled across the bottom of the printed note reads: "No joke - Good music!"

Cao, who works as a senior brand designer at Reno-based Commence Studio, described the letter on Twitter as "the opposite of a noise complaint."

To top it off, he revealed that Todd had left him a cold beer too.

Twitter user BrazilianBucks spoke for many on social media with their response to Cao's post.

"You can't post this without a link to a playlist," they wrote. "i need to know what Todd is hearing!!"

Cao duly returned to Twitter to share a link to a Spotify playlist, which he says was "inspired by Todd" and "dedicated to all the chill neighbors out there."

Another reminder of the special relationships that can be forged when neighbors become friends came in August, thanks to a viral TikTok video showing a 90-year-old man dropping off sticky buns for the young medical student who lives next door.

The TikTok user, known as @medicalstudentlife, explained that her elderly neighbor makes a point of getting up extra early every Monday to fetch her a box of buns before she has to leave for class at 7:30 a.m. The clip was watched more than 2 million times in its first 24 hours.
