Mash-Up of Eminem and Super Mario Has Internet in Hysterics: 'Abomination'

Ever wondered what you'd get if you crossed the Super Mario soundtrack with Eminem? Well, wonder no more, because one Redditor has gone and done it—and it's the mash-up we never knew we needed.

Sharing the unexpected collab with the r/funny subreddit, user u/dustin1776 "pitch-corrected" three of rapper Eminem's tracks to correspond with the music from Super Mario Brothers 64. Redditors couldn't get enough, with the post receiving 77,000 upvotes and 1,200 comments since being posted on Tuesday, May 31.

"I greatly enjoyed this abomination," said nerrd42420.

"This so dumb and yet so necessary," wrote The_Pandalorian.

While Smokeytheskwerl commented: "What an interesting time to have ears."

Dustin1776 runs the YouTube channel "There I Ruined it," where he shares a wide variety of mash-ups that shouldn't work, but do. His other videos include a "kids" version of "Bodies" by Drowning Pool, and a Katy Perry/Darth Vader remix for May 4.

His Mario-Eminem clip includes the hits "Lose Yourself," "Godzilla" and "Slim Shady," but he has also created a bluegrass version of an Eminem song, which received 50,000 upvotes of its own.

Real-name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, Missouri-born rapper Eminem made a name for himself during the 1990s and early 2000s thanks to his controversial content. Ranked number 82 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, Eminem has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide since his debut in 1996.

Along with his career as a rapper, producer and songwriter, Eminem has also dabbled in acting, starring in 8 Mile in 2002. "Lose Yourself" was written for the soundtrack, and won Best Original Song at the 2003 Academy Awards.

Despite dustin1776 claiming he'd "ruined" Eminem and Super Mario with his mash-up, Redditors strongly disagreed.

GreatTragedy said: "Slide whistle on the flag drop. Just amazing."

"The flower power speed-up got me," wrote Jamesseesall.

Cybercuzco commented: "You keep saying that word, ruined. It does not mean what I think you think it means."

"The correct word here is "enhanced," You_Stole_My_Hot_Dog added.

Many users felt that Eminem would also enjoy the mash-up.

MercyFaith said: "I wish there was a way for us to make sure Eminem sees this. It's just plain AWESOME!!!"

SoreLoserOfDumbtown agreed, commenting: "I'm 100% convinced he'd love it. The dude has a good sense of humour."

However, animals are apparently less keen on the mash-up, with emotionles writing: "My dog hated this, but I loved it. Great work."

Newsweek has reached out to u/dustin1776 for comment.
