Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino claimed his side was still in the English Premier League title race after it came from behind to beat Burnley at White Hart Lane.

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes opened the scoring from close range and against the run of play after 21 minutes.

But Spurs hit back within six minutes through England midfielder Dele Alli, before left back Danny Rose crunched in the winning goal at Burnley keeper Tom Heaton's near post on 71 minutes.

"I think our position is good," Pochettino said following a game that moved Spurs within one point of Arsenal, which lost at Etihad Stadium to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. "Winning games, keeping the gap—I think we are now a little bit closer to second [place]. The Premier League doesn't finish tomorrow or even in a few weeks. There is still a long way to the end of the season and we are in a position to attack the second half of the season and try to push a little bit more."

Asked if runaway Premier League leader Chelsea was uncatchable, Pochettino said: "No. It's true that the gap is 10 points to Chelsea, but there are a lot of games to play. Only because last season was a similar gap to Leicester." Chelsea extended its winning run in the league to 11 games on Saturday with victory at Crystal Palace.

Tottenham's next engagement comes after Christmas, when it travels to the English south coast to face Southampton, Pochettino's former club.
