Pregnancy Reveal Using McDonald's Ice Cream Cone Divides Opinion

A woman staged an elaborate pregnancy reveal for her other half—using a McDonald's ice cream cone.

The couple, named Josh and Lisa, regularly share prank videos on their TikTok page, @joshandlisa, but the fast-food themed clip has struck a chord with viewers.

The clip, captioned "the sweetest pregnancy announcement," has amassed more than 9 million views since being uploaded on Friday, and can be seen here.

It shows a hand, thought to belong to Lisa, sliding a pregnancy test into a cone topped with vanilla soft serve, before showing her smoothing ice cream over the test cap to hide it in the dessert.

She walks through a McDonald's branch, thought to be in the U.S., over to Josh and another woman who are sitting at a table.

Lisa encourages him to eat it quickly, as he says: "How fast do you eat ice cream? You know I'll get a brain freeze."

She tells him: "It's worth it. I promise it's worth it. There's something that's really exciting about a brain freeze. It's like super exciting. You've always wanted one. You've always wanted a brain freeze."

The camera zooms in on the blonde woman, who is holding her mouth in shock, as Lisa continues: "And now it's time for us to have a brain freeze. And I think we're going to have it together."

He replies: "We're not going to have a brain freeze together unless you eat some ice cream."

Lisa keeps chatting, saying: "We've been waiting for this brain freeze for a really long time, like really really long."

At this point Josh has licked enough ice cream to expose the test, as he asks "what's in my ice cream" while trying to pull it out, but he just ends up pulling the cap off.

He then pulls out the entire test using his fingers, which now has the cap removed, as Lisa asks: "Do you know what it is?"

"Really. Is this real?" he asks, as Lisa cries: "Yes."

The clip has attracted a lot of attention as people were outraged over the presentation, pointing out pregnancy tests are urinated on, particularly as he removed the protective cap.

"That's disgusting," Dze_713 wrote.

Tessa Berry wrote: "You peed on that."

Kait commented: "Your finger in the ice-cream was enough, let alone something you peed on."

While Maria asked: "Am I the only one of the few people that it came to mind is why the hell would she put a stick she peed on in ice cream."

But numerous people thought something was amiss in the reveal, as Makayla Shae Bentley pointed out: "First response test are pink dye not blue, someone wrote with a pen plus the lines are too dark."

Also picking up on the color was Kaelene Michelle, who added: "It looks staged because it looks like a sharpie."

"Why does this seem really staged like they already knew?" CarmelatheBeast asked.

While Kray quipped: "That wasn't acted out at all."

The video is widely believed to have been set-up as the couple's page is full of joke videos, including a "car jack prank," a "grandma prank" and an "airline prank."

The pair, who are thought to have a little girl, also shared another pregnancy announcement video earlier this month, this time in public.

One other thing which caused TikTokers to raise their eyebrows was the fast Lisa managed to get her hands on an ice cream at all.

The fast food chain is notorious for its ice cream machines being out of order, so much so that even the official Twitter account for the golden arches made a joke about it in 2020.

"We have a joke about our soft serve machine but we're worried it won't work," they posted.

Irate ice-cream lovers have also set up a website tracking every working and broken machine across the country, aptly called Mcbroken.com.

A report in the Wall Street Journal earlier this month claimed the Federal Trade Commission had contacted McDonald's franchise owners, seeking answers over the broken equipment.

In the comment section of the video, Culoot joked: "Anyone else surprised the ice cream machine was working at McDonald's."

@Julie__prz wrote: "Congratulations how sweet now to the real important part can you drop the address of the McDonald's with the working ice cream machine."

While Manny declared: "This is a lie from the pit of hell and back. Cause them ice cream machines never work."

Newsweek reached out to Josh and Lisa and McDonald's for comment.
