McDonald's Worker Staged Armed Robbery to Split Money With Gunman: Police

A Texas teenager has been arrested on suspicion of setting up an armed robbery at the McDonald's where he worked.

Nicholas Brinkman, 17, is accused of aggravated robbery following an incident at the fast-food restaurant in Spring on August 9.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, deputies responded to the McDonald's restaurant located at 22815 Cypresswood Drive to reports of a robbery.

The manager then told deputies that his employee Brinkman was robbed at gunpoint at the drive-thru for all the cash in the register.

After reviewing the surveillance footage, it was determined that Brinkman had set up the armed robbery with the suspect so they could split the money between them. The 17-year-old later admitted to police that this was the case.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office has still not identified or located the second suspect.

"Nicholas Brinkman was arrested and booked in the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Robbery. His bond and court have not been set at this time," Constable Mark Herman said in a statement.

McDonald's has been contacted for comment.

Last month, the New York Police Department asked the public for help in identifying a man accused of robbing a string of McDonald's restaurants across the Bronx area of the city.

The suspect is accused of walking up to a 20-year-old female employee inside a McDonald's at 279 East 149 Street in the South Bronx on April 20 and forcing her to take $52 from the register before fleeing.

He is also accused of pulling a knife on a 31-year-old female staff member at a McDonald's at 925 Hunts Point Avenue in Foxhurst at around 1:15 a.m. on April 26, before making off with $109 from the register.

The suspect is also alleged to have shown a knife to a 25-year-old female worker a McDonald's at 1600 Boston Road in Charlotte Gardens on the morning of June 10, as well as pulling a knife on a 30-year-old male worker a McDonald's at 2870 3rd Avenue in the South Bronx just before 1 a.m. on June 14.

During these two robberies the suspect was able to take off with $100 and $105 respectively.

The NYPD said the man used a knife to commit a robbery at Family Dollar store at 1315 Boston Road in Morrisania on May 3 to steal $219 from the register, as well as a Dollar Tree store at 250 East 144 Street in the South Bronx on May 8, where he took $450.
