Nancy Pelosi's 'Trump Impeachment Outfit' Praised by Twitter Users

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, wore the same outfit to Donald Trump's second impeachment on Wednesday as she did to his first.

Trump was impeached on one count of inciting insurrection following the riot at the Capitol last week—making him the first U.S. president to be impeached twice. One detail of the historic proceedings that caught many people's eye was Pelosi's black dress and necklace.

Twitter users were quick to point out that she had worn this dress in Congress once before—during Trump's first impeachment in December 2019. Some suggested that this was the Speaker's "official impeachment outfit" while others praised her "pettiness."

Twitter user Travis Allen wrote: "Nancy Pelosi wore the same dress for both impeachments. She literally has a Trump impeachment outfit."

Lawyer and author Meena Harris said: "NANCY PELOSI HAS AN OFFICIAL IMPEACHMENT OUTFIT."

Another Twitter user, Julia Bedeian, posted: "nancy pelosi wearing the same outfit as she did for the last impeachment....absolutely petty and i admire her for it."

Writer and comedian Akilah Hughes wrote: "I like to imagine Nancy Pelosi was asked, 'wow. What are you gonna wear?' and was like, 'same thing I wore last time.' and it was a joke but then she really did it."

Sophia Shapiro said: "Same outfit. Same President. Same outcome," and Laura Batcha wrote: "I watched the first impeached debate from the house gallery and couldn't stop raving about Nancy Pelosi's outfit. Glad to see it back. Who says you can't wear the same great get up more than once!"

Political consultant and commentator Paul Begala said: "[Nancy Pelosi] is a national treasure. She should donate that outfit to the Smithsonian." John Dean, a former attorney who served as White House counsel for President Richard Nixon, shared a similar sentiment, posting: "You've got to love her. It worked once so she wore it again. The dress will end up in the Smithsonian!"

Trump was first impeached in December 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. He was acquitted of those charges by the Senate in February 2020. It is not yet known when the Senate trial on his second impeachment will take place, but it is not expected to be before the inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20.
