Natalie Morales Joins 'The Talk' After Leaving NBC

Former NBC anchor and correspondent Natalie Morales is officially joining The Talk on CBS. Morales is leaving NBC after 22 years as a news anchor and correspondent but will continue to contribute to Dateline NBC through to the end of 2021.

This October, she will join fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O'Connell, and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila to discuss the latest headlines and current events.

In a statement, Morales said: "It's an extraordinary opportunity to be joining this team at The Talk. I love the new energy and direction and couldn't be more excited to join Sheryl, Amanda, Jerry, and Akbar. I'm looking forward to many good times while talking about the days' topics, and I can't wait to get going."

The Talk's executive producers Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews said in a joint statement: "We couldn't be more excited to have Natalie Morales join The Talk family.

"We have been fans of her and her work for years. Her varied skillset and versatility are a great addition to our talented panel. Natalie's intelligence, passion, and enthusiasm always shine through in all her work, and we are fortunate to have her on the team. In addition to her role as an exceptional broadcaster, we believe her perspective as a wife and mother will provide a special connection with our audience," read the statement.

Morales will make her official debut as co-host on Monday, October 11 but she stopped by (virtually) during Monday, October 4's show after the news was announced where she was introduced to viewers.

Addressing her new co-hosts, Morales said: "I just wanted to say to all of you: I've been a huge fan, I've been watching all of you as you all have been soaring on this show.

"Sheryl, I've been on there a couple of times with you and you always just made me feel so welcome and such a part of a team, so I can't wait to sit next to you."

Morales is the latest addition to the Emmy-winning daytime show, which has seen a few changes in recent months.

In March 2021, Sharon Osbourne departed from the show after an on-air racism debate with co-host Sheryl Underwood. On March 26, CBS announced Osbourne was officially leaving the show. In July 2021, Jerry O'Connell was announced as Osbourne's replacement, becoming The Talk's first male co-host.

In August 2021, Carrie Ann Inaba announced she was leaving the show after three seasons, and less than a month later, Elaine Welteroth announced she would be stepping down after just one season on the panel.

Two days after her exit, on September 2, American Ninja Warrior star and former NFL player Akbar Gbaja-Biamila joined the panel ahead of The Talk's 12th season.

Newsweek has contacted CBS for comment.

The Talk airs weekdays at 2 p.m. ET on CBS.
