Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (2022)

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch in 2022. The game is heavily inspired by the Jet Set Radio franchise, in which players skate around a dense metropolis, cover the area in graffiti and evade the authorities. There is a twist on the formula here, though, as Bomb Rush is set in a high-tech future with a distinctive cell-shaded art style.

According to the trailer, your adventure will be "backed by beats from a wide range of musical talent [as you] grind, paint, and combo your way to becoming one of the greatest graffiti artists around."

TOEM (Fall 2021)

Like many of the titles unveiled in this year's Wholesome Direct and Guerrilla Collective conferences, TOEM is a cutesy photography game with endearing characters and a hand-drawn style. While this is fast becoming a genre in and of itself, developer Something We Made has distinguished its offering by taking inspiration from the Scandinavian countryside.

TOEM will be launched on the Switch this fall.

Loop Hero (Holiday 2021)

Loop Hero provides an interesting spin on the RPG genre as, rather than controlling the protagonist, you are essentially the dungeon master. Using a card-based system, you will create levels for the adventurer to conquer by placing obstacles and enemies in the right places.

The gamer is not pitted against the hero in this scenario and will instead be trying to create "loops" that they can beat.

Loop Hero will arrive on the Switch this holiday season.

FAR: Changing Tides (Early 2022)

A sequel to the acclaimed FAR: Lone Sails, Changing Tides is a puzzle game in which you embark on a voyage through a flooded landscape. You will captain your own seafaring vessel as you search for a new place to call home, overcoming various trials such as raging tempests and head-scratching conundrums.

The game will be released on the Nintendo Switch in early 2022.

Necrobarista: Final Pour (Out Now)

Necrobarista is a visual novel set in a coffee shop that serves as a kind of limbo, in which the dead can spend one last night with the living before they move on. Players will get to interact with these spirits (as they share their reflections on life) via branching dialogue paths.

Final Pour is a remastered director's cut with new story content and a studio mode that lets you create your own quests. It is available on the Nintendo Switch right now.

Garden Story (Out Now)

Garden Story is a pixel-art RPG in which you control an anthropomorphic grape who is fighting to restore his homeland after an invasion by the monstrous "Rot."

Billed as a relaxing eco-adventure, Garden Story is available now as a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.

Boyfriend Dungeon (Out Now)

Boyfriend Dungeon is an isometric RPG crossed with a dating sim, in which you court sentient weapons. That's right: in this game, you will have to woo swords (which admittedly transform into humans between combat sections) to unlock moves and fighting styles.

The game is available now on the Switch.

Axiom Verge 2 (Out Now)

Axiom Verge 2, which despite its name is a prequel, is a "Metroidvania" platformer that has you exploring a futuristic world with the aid of countless power-ups and abilities.

The game is available now on Nintendo Switch.

Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon (Holiday 2021)

Pocket Dungeon is a spin-off from the mainline Shovel Knight franchise, blending elements of the dungeon crawler with the "falling blocks" genre (see Tetris). In a nutshell, the combat encounters here resemble the puzzles in something like Dr. Mario, except you will have to dig your way through the color-coded blocks (rather than piling them on top of each other) to defeat your enemies.

The game will be released on Nintendo Switch this holiday season.

Tetris Effect: Connected (October 8)

Speaking of falling block games, the definitive example of the genre is coming to the Switch this fall. It is hard to think of a franchise better suited to portable gaming than Tetris and this entry, which received multiple Game of the Year awards back in 2018, tweaked the formula in a lot of exciting ways.

Among other things, it offers collaborative puzzles, online versus matches and a "stop time" mechanic. Tetris Effect: Connected will be ported to the Nintendo Switch on October 8.

ISLANDERS: Console Edition (Out Now)

ISLANDERS is a city-building strategy game in which you must think carefully about how to optimize the limited space at your disposal.

Gamers will need to place buildings judiciously on their landmasses, gradually earning more points so they can unlock extra territory. The session ends when you have run out of either space or buildings, with the ultimate goal being to last as long as you can.

ISLANDERS: Console Edition is available on the Nintendo Switch now.

Metal Slug Tactics (2022)

Metal Slug Tactics is a turn-based action game in the vein of XCOM. While this represents a big change for the run-and-gun series, fans can rest assured that it retains the classic Metal Slug iconography, detailed pixel-art aesthetic and some of their favorite heroes, including Marko, Tarma and Eri.

The game will be launched on the Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Astroneer (January 2022)

Astroneer is a third-person sandbox game, in which players explore remote worlds on foot, via rover, or from behind the piloting seat of their own space shuttle. Your main goal here is to terraform these planets so they are habitable and gather their resources.

Although the game was originally released in 2019, it is being ported to the Nintendo Switch in January.

Hundred Days: Winemaking Simulator (Holiday 2021)

Hundred Days: Winemaking Simulator is exactly what it sounds like—a management sim that places you in charge of a vineyard. You will have to make important decisions on questions such as which grapes to use, which yeasts will be best for the fermentation process and what the wine bottles themselves should look like.

The game will be coming to Nintendo Switch for the 2021 holiday season.

Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition (Out Now)

Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition is a handheld version of the beloved first-person adventure game, in which you breed gelatinous alien lifeforms and transport them using a giant vacuum cleaner.

It is out now on the Nintendo Switch.

Lumbearjack (2022)

Lumbearjack is an environmental puzzle game in which you control the titular grizzly. Reminiscent of Untitled Goose Game, it lets you explore a colorful environment and think outside the box to disrupt the activities of witless humans (who are deforesting your home).

The game will be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.

Curious Expedition 2 (Out Now)

In this turn-based roguelike RPG, you lead a party of 19th-century explorers who have traveled to a mysterious island. Here, you will build relations with the native communities and battle fantastical creatures (including dinosaurs).

Curious Expedition 2 is out now on Nintendo Switch.

Gang Beasts (Fall 2021)

Gang Beasts is a multiplayer beat 'em up in which you control deliberately unwieldy characters (who flail erratically) and try to knock the competition out of the arena. Think of it like Tekken, only you are trying to steer one of those inflatable tube mascots that are seen outside car dealerships.

The game will be ported to Nintendo Switch this fall.

Eastward (September 16, 2021)

Eastward is another pixel-art RPG. This time, you will take control of two separate characters as they embark on a perilous journey across a "world falling into ruin."

The game will be available on the Nintendo Switch on September 16.

With the release of the Switch OLED edition scheduled for early October, it is shaping up to be a busy few months for Nintendo.
