Nintendo Switch Play Data Reset to get Fix in Future Update

Amid reports of Switch play data disappearing after one year, Nintendo has come out on Twitter to assure users that a fix is in the works. In the tweet, the company states play activity information is still being recorded, despite that information displaying inaccurately. Nintendo will release an update in the near future to fix this problem.

Check out Nintendo of America's official tweet about the issue:

Reports of Nintendo Switch play data errors began in late February, when data from review copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were inexplicably reset. Instead of hundreds of hours, Switch users were seeing playtimes in the single digits.

Considering the game data for a Nintendo Switch profile updates once a week, the numbers have become inaccurate. Reddit users voiced their displeasure when their play data was reset, with some data posting a "zero days played" notice.

Nintendo provided Polygon with the following statement about the play data issue after concerns were raised.

"Some Nintendo Switch owners' play activity information is displaying incorrectly," the company's statement reads. "We are aware of the issue and we expect to have more information to share in the near future."

Not many Nintendo Switch titles have been affected by this play data reset. Launch-day games like Breath of the Wild are affected. 1, 2 Switch and Snipperclips will also be affected for some users.
