Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ was originally conceived as a spin-off film to Revenge of the Sith. Thankfully, the franchise has pivoted to TV, meaning there is more Star Wars content to sink their teeth into than just 90 minutes or so.

The Disney+ miniseries has six episodes in total, premiering on Friday, May 27, and running until Friday, June 22.

Star Wars fans are in for a treat as Disney decided to drop not one, but two episodes on Friday, May 27, for fans to watch back to back.

What Is Obi-Wan Kenobi About?

Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ is set 10 years after the events of the 2005 film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.

The miniseries sees Kenobi watching over Darth Vader's son Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, where he lives a solitary life in exile.

His relatively quiet life is turned upside down when Vader establishes the Sith Inquisitors program, which sees a group of Dark Side Force users on a mission to find any Jedi who survived Order 66, a command given by Emperor Palpatine for all Jedi to be killed.

The official synopsis for Obi-Wan Kenobi teases: "The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."

Who stars in Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Ewan McGregor has reprised his role as the Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Disney+ miniseries.

McGregor played the role back in 1999 and has since gone on to star in Fargo, Halston, Doctor Sleep, and Birds of Prey.

He is also well known for Trainspotting, T2 Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge, and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

Joel Edgerton returns to the Star Wars world as Owen Lars alongside Hayden Christensen, who reprises his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

Edgerton is well-known for his roles in Red Sparrow, The King, The Underground Railroad, Zero Dark Thirty, and Animal Kingdom.
