Jose Mourinho is increasingly confident he can lure his principal summer transfer target Paul Pogba to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Frenchman Pogba, who will cost a world-record fee of around £100 million ($132.2 million) is wanted by Real Madrid and United, the club he left for Juventus in 2012 in search of regular first-team football.

But L'Equipe, the French sports newspaper, says Pogba is inching towards a move to Old Trafford, with Mourinho's case strengthened by United's existing relationship with the player's agent, Mino Raiola.

Raiola has already dealt twice with United this summer, firstly in the free transfer of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and then with the lucrative move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund.

Pogba is Mourinho's fourth designated signing of the summer, after Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, the £30 million ($39.7 million) arrival from Spanish club Villarreal who made an impressive debut against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
