'Pokémon Go' Gen 4 Update Teased in New Artwork
It's been a little more than two years since Pokémon Go became a global phenomenon, but Niantic seems to be ready to introduce players to Gen 4 and the Sinnoh Region.
The official Pokémon Go account posted a tweet sharing the team's gratitude to the fans, along with new artwork commemorating the second anniversary of the popular mobile game. However, the artwork shows new Pokémon that are not yet available in the game.
Chimchar, Turtwig and Piplup, the three Sinnoh Region starters, are all present in the Pokémon Go second anniversary artwork, all but confirming Gen 4 is on its way. Take a look at the image below.

Niantic didn't announce a release date for Gen 4, but the new artwork likely means it's coming sooner than later. In the meantime, trainers can (and should) stock up on these Candy before Gen 4 is released. Many Pokémon from past regions, like Rhydon and Murkrow, get evolutions.
Gen 3, or the Hoenn Region, was first introduced in Pokémon Go in December 2017 with the release of 50 new Pokémon including the region's starters, Torchic, Treecko and Mudkip. Niantic would gradually release the rest of the Hoenn Pokémon in the months following. Pokémon Go players can expect a similar release schedule for Gen 4 when the update does come to the mobile game.
The Gen 3 update for Pokémon Go also implemented the Dynamic Weather feature and a similar new feature could be implemented when Gen 4 is ready. When more information becomes available on the Sinnoh Region coming to Pokémon Go, we will update this section.
