'Pokémon Sword and Shield' Reveals Two New Pokémon and Features
During the September 4 Nintendo Direct, new information on Pokémon Sword and Shield were announced including two new Pokémon and features.
First, we have two new Pokémon. The first is called Polteageist. Polteageist is a Ghost-type Pokémon with the ability Weak Armor. This ability decreases its defense by one stage and increases its speed by two stages when it's hit by a physical attack.
Here's the flavor text for Polteageist:
Polteageist's body is made from black tea, and it's said to have a very distinct aroma and flavor. It will only allow a Trainer it trusts to sample its tea, although drinking too much can lead to indigestion. Many Polteageist make their homes inside hotels and restaurants where they disguise themselves and hide among the tableware. Because they can pour their power into leftover tea and create even more of their kind, they're often treated as pests.

The second Pokémon is called Cramorant. This Flying and Water-type Pokémon is an odd one with a unique ability called Gulp Missile. While it uses the moves Surf or Dive, it will catch a fish in its mouth. While in this state, if a Pokémon hits it Cramorant will counter attack.
Here's some flavor text for Cramorant:
When it comes to food, Cramorant will try to swallow anything it can fit in its mouth. Sometimes it will swallow things that aren't its intended prey, spitting them out once it realizes its mistake. A Cramorant can be forgetful, but it will never forget a Trainer it grows to trust. However, even Trainers will face fierce attacks from their Cramorant if they try to steal its food. Cramorant's Ability, Gulp Missile, is a new Ability that can be triggered during battles. After Cramorant uses Surf or Dive, it will return with a catch in its mouth. If it takes damage while in this state, Cramorant will retaliate by spitting out its catch at that opponent.
As for new features, trainer customization returns and gives players the deepest customization in a Pokémon game. Players can change hair color and even put on makeup.
The other feature is Pokémon Camp. This new mode will allow players to interact and play with their Pokémon. In the Wild Area, you can visit other player's camps. You can hang out with three other players at a camp site.
You can create Curry on Rice using different berries and ingredients to feed your Pokémon at camp sites. There are over 100 types of Curry so mix and match until you find the recipe you like.
The official Pokémon press release confirmed some online features in Sword and Shield. Using the Y-Comm will allow players to Link Battle or Trade. The Y-Comm will also allow for Surprise Trades. The player only needs to select a Pokémon from their boxes that they want to trade and a trade partner will automatically be found. This is similar to the Wonder Trade in prior generations.
Pokémon Sword and Shield releases November 15 for Nintendo Switch.
