Queen Elizabeth II has a New Great Grandchild as Princess Eugenie Gives Birth

Princess Eugenie gave birth to a royal baby boy this morning—making her father Prince Andrew a grandparent for the first time, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

The young royal will be Queen Elizabeth II's ninth great-grandchild and comes after the princess married husband Jack Brooksbank in 2018.

The queen and Prince Andrew are among those who have been told of the news, after the newborn was delivered just before 9 a.m. GMT (4 a.m. ET).

Eugenie's mother Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, the monarch's husband Prince Philip and Brooksbank's parents, George and Nicola Brooksbank have also been told.

A Buckingham Palace announcement read: "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital.

"Jack Brooksbank was present. The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.

"This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York's first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

Eugenie and Brooksbank got married in October 2018 at Windsor Castle, the same venue as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and just three months later.

The couple had at one point planned to raise their first born at Harry and Meghan's Frogmore Cottage U.K. home, which they are not currently using while living in California full time.

However, not long after moving in they left the property, Tatler reported.

The queen has another great-grandchild on the way as granddaughter Zara Tindall is also pregnant with a due date later this year.

Her husband Mike Tindall announced the news through his "The Good, The Bad and The Rugby" podcast in December.

He said: "Been a good week for me, had a little scan last week, third Tindall on its way."

He added: "We're not sure what to do, but Covi or Covina. I don't know where to go with names.

"Z [Zara] is very good, always careful because of things that have happened in the past and, yeah, really looking forward to it.

"I'd like a boy this time, I've got two girls. I would like a boy but I will love it whatever, whether a boy or a girl, but please be a boy."

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's son will be 11th in the line of succession, the Daily Mail reported.
