Arsene Wenger wants to bring Freddie Ljungberg back to Arsenal in a coaching role previously held by Thierry Henry.

Ljungberg won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and three Community Shields during his nine-year career at Arsenal, between 1998 and 2007.

But now the 39-year-old, who retired in 2014, is being lined up for a return to the club as a coach for the under 18s, according to The Times.

Henry, Arsenal's leading goalscorer, left the position earlier this year after Wenger urged the Frenchman to choose between his punditry roles and coaching. Henry is believed to be looking for a role at a new club.

Wenger has long been criticized for not installing former players into coaching roles, especially with Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira taking up positions with rivals Manchester City.
