Arsène Wenger insists Alexis Sanchez wants to remain at Arsenal next season and is set to sign a new deal with the club.

Sanchez, the 28-year-old forward, has 14 months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium and reports have suggested he wants to move to rival club Chelsea.

But Wenger, speaking on Friday ahead of his team's Monday night clash with Crystal Palace, explained that he expected an agreement for a new deal to be reached.

"I believe that he wants to stay at the club and it is about doing a deal with his agent," the Frenchman said, as quoted by the BBC.

"The players have to see if they're happy and find an agreement. Finances are also involved in that."

Sanchez joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014 for a fee believed to be around £35 million (about $44 million) and has grown into the club's most influential player.

But he has cut a frustrated figure this season and reports have suggested he is seeking a move.
