The San Francisco 49ers have gotten off to an underwhelming start to the new NFL season, sitting with a record of 1-2. Injuries have ravished the team early on and it has severely affected their play on the field.

Coming off two straight losses, San Francisco is looking to put it all together this weekend against the New England Patriots. The team will still be without some of its star players but it seems that they could be getting back a key piece to their offensive attack, star tight end George Kittle.

Kittle spoke to the media on Friday and said that he was "very excited to play football" and that he was "feeling fantastic". He has been dealing with a hamstring injury but returned to practice this week.

"I'm very excited to play football," Kittle said. "I think there have been some circumstances that have happened this year, so we're just trying to cover our bases and be as honest as possible. But no, I am feeling fantastic."

Getting Kittle back out on the field will be massive for the 49ers as they look to stop the bleeding. He has been one of the better pass-catchers around the NFL over the last few seasons, giving the 49ers a big boost to their offensive attack.

"We thought I was going to be 100% fine and it just ended up not," Kittle said. "So that's how that turned out."

Last season, Kittle caught 65 passes for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns. He helped lead the 49ers back to the Super Bowl, where they ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs again.

Before suffering his injury this season, Kittle had caught 11 passes for 116 yards and one touchdown. He had just started to get more accumulated into the offense when he went down with the injury.

San Francisco is already without star running back Christian McCaffrey and wideout Deebo Samuel due to injuries. Quarterback Brock Purdy has also been banged up this week but he is expected to play against the Patriots this weekend.

The 49ers know that they can't continue to drop games if they want to reach their goal of winning the Super Bowl. Injuries are no excuse for this team and they will look to even their record at home against New England.
