On Wednesday morning, the Washington Commanders hit the road to have a joint practice with the New England Patriots. Ahead of the action, quarterback Jayden Daniels got to chop it up with one of the more notable names in attendance.
Coming off such an impressive rookie season, Daniels is a player many are eager to see take the field in 2025. Though he might be without one of his key weapons, expectations are still high for the young QB in year two.
Now with a year of experience under his belt, Daniels is eager to lead Washington on what they hope is another deep run.

Jayden Daniels spotted with Jayson Tatum at Commanders' joint practice

The Patriots ended up having a special guest at practice on Wednesday, as Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum was spotted on the field. He has remained in the area this summer as he continues his injury rehab. During the postseason, the star forward suffered a torn Achilles that will keep him shelved for most of the 2026 season.
While Tatum was likely there supporting his fellow Boston squad, it didn't stop him from spending time with some members of the Commanders. Photos surfaced on social media of him having a lengthy conversation with Washington's newest star QB.
Daniels has made the rounds while Washington gets some live reps in with the Patriots. The Commanders' social media account posted a photo of him sharing a moment with New England's QB Drake Maye.

Despite having a high bar set for him in his sophomore campaign, Daniels seems to be in a good place physically and mentally. Last week, he reflected on his improved comfort level with the Commanders in training camp this time around.
"Most definitely night and day," Daniels said per ESPN. "It's being more comfortable in the offense. I understand what Kliff is calling and what we want to accomplish as an offense. I have different tools in my tool belt to get to different protections, to get to different runs versus certain looks."
Following their joint practice together Wednesday, the Commanders and Patriots will kick off the preseason against one another on Friday. Daniels is likely to see some time across Washington's three matchups to further prepare himself for the 2025 season.
