It's been a difficult season for the Philadelphia Eagles, who suffered their sixth straight loss Sunday night against the Washington Commanders, 27-10.

The loss came with star running back Saquon Barkley attempting to help his team amid his lingering hamstring issue. Along with that, they were still without their starting receivers, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, due to injuries.

The team has been relying on backup quarterback Tanner McKee with Jalen Hurts out for the season, recovering from his diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis in his leg and bilateral pulmonary emboli in his lungs. McKee threw for over 200 passing yards but couldn't find any receivers in the end zone, as Barkley had the Eagles' only touchdown all game.

Although their season has been hampered by a series of unfortunate circumstances, including injuries to key players, one Eagles legend still believes in them as a team. Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb recently expressed optimism about Philadelphia's playoff chances despite the team's ongoing struggles.

"I think we can make the playoffs," McNabb said while speaking on Sports Radio 94WIP, also adding, "It doesn't matter what your record is: If it's nine, seven, or eight. You win in the NFC East, and you get in, and anything can happen."

McNabb was reminded that McKee is currently Philadelphia's starting quarterback, but he still gave him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the Eagles salvaging their season.

"I would stick with Tanner definitely for the next three weeks and see where that leads us," the Eagles legend said, adding, "I don't think there's a desperate need to make a change now for someone who just got there."

While speaking with Kay Adams for "Up & Adams with Kay Adams," McNabb indicated that he thinks the winner of the upcoming Eagles-Giants Week 9 game will win the NFC East. That game occurs on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. ET in Philadelphia, giving the home team a chance to snap their losing streak.

The Eagles are currently 2-6, while the Giants lead the division with a 4-2-1 record. The 3-5 Dallas Cowboys haven't done themselves any favors when it comes to trying to win the division, as they squandered a home game against the Cardinals on Sunday and lost on a field goal in overtime.

Meanwhile, the Commanders improved to 2-4-1 by defeating the Eagles, giving Jayden Daniels and Washington a chance at the division if they can use this momentum.

If Philadelphia hopes to win the division and reach the playoffs, it might need to pull off some upsets over some challenging opponents on its remaining schedule. They'll get a bye week after the Giants game before traveling to Pittsburgh to face Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 22.

Along with that, the Eagles have games against the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and then a rematch against the Giants to close out their regular season.
