Running back Saquon Barkley spent the first six seasons of his career with the NFC East's New York Giants before signing a lucrative contract to play for the Philadelphia Eagles.
In the Amazon Prime Video documentary, "Saquon," released last year, the three-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl winner made eye-opening remarks. According to New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy, he revealed that the Giants denied his trade request in 2023 and that he felt undervalued during contract negotiations with the organization.
After two years of difficult contract negotiations, he signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles in 2024, including $26 million guaranteed. He immediately flourished with Philadelphia, achieving a breakout season with a career-high 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in 2024.

"I have no hate in my heart for New York football, for the New York Giants. I actually have nothing but the utmost respect for that organization," Barkley said. "It didn't work, right? We're on a business show. It's just that happens in business sometimes; you can't come to an agreement.
"I felt like in my documentary I did everything in my ability to try to make it seem like I'm not trying to take a shot at New York. ... But you know how it is in sports, and the fandom world; it was made much more than what it needed to be," he told Front Office Sports.
Several fans criticized Barkley's new comments to Front Office Sports about the Giants, with some suggesting that he was trying to get back in the team's good graces in case he needed to return to play for them.
"He made it way more dramatic and personal than it had to be with that doc," a commenter wrote.
"Dude is doing media runs to make him look good just in case he gets traded back here lmao okay," another commenter said.
One individual commented, "exactly, we all moved on. but... doesn't mean we want or will welcome you back, if the trade rumors are are true. Stay where you found a place, as you said."
While Barkley has won a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles, this season has been a rough one for Philadelphia's NFL team. They are without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for the season due to his medical diagnosis and have been hit with injuries to star receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks.
The team is currently 2-5 after recently losing to the Dallas Cowboys in "Monday Night Football." Barkley returned after dealing with a hamstring injury and recorded his first touchdown of the season.
Meanwhile, Barkley's future in Philadelphia has become a subject of speculation amid the Eagles' struggles this season. A CBS Sports report listed multiple trade ideas involving Barkley, including the Giants sending their young running back Cam Skattebo as part of a package to Philadelphia for Barkley.
