A former Denver Broncos Pro Bowler is calling out Kansas City Chiefs fans for complaining about the controversial way their Week 8 game ended against the Broncos.

The Chiefs had a chance to win the game in the final seconds, with a thrilling drive that had them in the red zone. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw what seemed like the game-winning touchdown to Rashee Rice in the end zone on a fourth-and-one play.

However, a false start was called on right tackle Jaylon Moore, negating the touchdown. That five-yard penalty pushed Kansas City back to the six-yard line, and they were forced to try to score again on a fourth down, but Mahomes was sacked by the Broncos defense to end the game.

Broncos player Malcolm Roach tackles Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes

...

"Y'all been cheating the whole time y'all had Patrick Mahomes! Refs been cheating!" Simmons said, sounding off on "The Last Line" podcast. "Refs been cheating for y'all."

He mentioned watching the "Sunday Night Football" game featuring the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants and having to hear about Mahomes during that game.

"If you don't think that's not influence that these refs ain't giving you some calls. ... So listen, my rant is at the Chiefs fans that are delusional enough to think that that was not a false start. It was, y'all lost and y'all lost at the one-yard line. Ha! I don't feel bad for y'all," he said.

Simmons played safety for the Broncos from 2016 to 2023 and appeared in two Pro Bowls. He was the interception co-leader in 2022. However, fans also reminded Simmons that he faced Mahomes multiple times throughout his career and only had one win in their meetings.

"These is pure bitterness from losing to the Chiefs their whole career ... I’d blame the refs too if Mahomes dominated me my whole career," a commenter replied on the clip.

"Chiefs dynasty has done so much damage to these players man," one commenter said.

Another wrote, "You were 1-12 in your career against 15. They also talked about [Tom Brady] and [Peyton Manning] non stop in other telecasts."

"I get why you’re happy. Must’ve been rough playing the Chiefs during your career," another commenter said.

The Chiefs and Broncos played twice this past season and split their two meetings. Kansas City got a dominant 31-10 win at Arrowhead Stadium to start their season. The Broncos then avenged that loss, winning their game at home against Kansas City, 28-24, with that false-start penalty call stirring up plenty of fans.

The Broncos currently lead the division at 6-2, with the Chiefs just below them at 5-2. If they meet again, it could be a fierce battle in the NFL Playoffs, making for an intriguing scenario between the two AFC West contenders.
