When Is Spotify Wrapped? 2021 Date and How to Access Your Music Data

The 2021 edition of Spotify Wrapped will soon be here to humiliate everybody for their bad taste in music.

This annual roundup feature compiles an overview of the tracks, genres and artists that you have been enjoying over the year, giving you a chance to reflect on your (often mortifying) listening habits.

In addition to letting you examine your own data, Spotify Wrapped also contains insights on global trends from all of its users, meaning that you can see which songs and podcasts have been most popular on the streaming service.

For example, the 2020 version of Spotify Wrapped revealed that the most-streamed artist of that year was Bad Bunny, that the top individual song was The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" (followed by "Dance Monkey" by Tones and I) and that '80s music had a huge revival.

With 2021 rapidly drawing to a close, the next iteration of Spotify Wrapped will soon be upon us. Here is everything you need to know.

When Is Spotify Wrapped 2021 Coming Out?

Spotify has not officially announced when 2021 Wrapped will debut, but we can narrow it down based on previous years.

Wrapped always lands in the first week of December, often on either a Wednesday or a Thursday. In the case of 2020, the feature became available on December 2, while in 2019 it had a release date of December 5.

Assuming that the streaming service will continue to adhere to this pattern, it is likely that Spotify Wrapped 2021 will launch on either Wednesday, December 1 or Thursday, December 2.

Either way, we know that it's definitely ramping up as Spotify has already been notifying its users about it, which has caused a great deal of pre-emptive embarrassment for some users.

Speaking of which, if you want to try and skew your data by listening to cooler music than you normally would, you're unfortunately out of luck. Spotify has previously confirmed that your Wrapped is based on listening habits from between January 1 and October 31, so your results are now set in stone, and you will just have to swallow that bitter pill.

How To Access Your Spotify Wrapped Data

Accessing your Spotify Wrapped data on a cell phone is always quite simple.

Once the feature is live, there will be a "Your 2021 Wrapped" banner somewhere on the app's homepage for you to tap on. Last year it was quite near the top of the screen.

If you don't see it straight away, then you can use the search bar and just manually type in "Wrapped", at which it should be displayed as the first result.

From there you will have an option to watch your Spotify Wrapped "Story", which is basically a slideshow that contains information on things like how many artists you have listened to since January, what your most played song of the year was, and how many minutes of your favorite podcast you have listened to.

If you are not horribly ashamed of the outcomes, then you will have the ability to share individual slides to your social media accounts.

Just below the Story button, you will also be able to scroll through a menu that gives you access to a number of other Spotify Wrapped features, including personalized playlists of your top songs, as well as the biggest hits from the year that you haven't been listening to.

If you would rather look over your data on a desktop, there will be a dedicated page you can visit once Spotify Wrapped 2021 has launched.
