'Superman & Lois': When It Airs and How to Watch Online

Superman & Lois is coming to The CW this February and will be the first live-action Superman show on TV with Clark Kent in the lead role since Smallville came to an end in May 2011.

Tyler Hoechlin will play the Man of Steel in the new series after being the Arrowverse's Superman since 2016. On this new series, which will stream online shortly after The CW starts airing it, he is joined by Elizabeth Tulloch, the Arrowverse's Lois Lane since 2018.

When Superman & Lois airs

The new CW series premieres with its 90 minute pilot on Tuesday, February 23 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT, with the episode repeated on Saturday, February 27 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT on TNT.

The first season will have 15 episodes, set to air weekly on Tuesdays on The CW. The usual timeslot for these episodes, however, will be an hour later than the premiere, with episodes two to 15 airing at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT.

Superman & Lois is set to follow a slightly different streaming schedule to the majority of the other CW DC Comics shows. Shortly after episodes air, they will be available to watch for free with ads on The CW website and app for viewers in the U.S.

However, how many episodes of the show are available to watch online will be different. While older Arrowverse shows only have their five most recent episodes available at any one time on The CW website and app, while Superman & Lois is airing, all of its episodes will be available to watch for free at cwtv.com and on the app.

This is not the only way that the streaming rights for Superman & Lois will be different than shows like The Flash, Black Lightning (which is ending this season) and Legends of Tomorrow. While seasons of those shows go to Netflix eight days after their season finale airs, Superman & Lois is not going to Netflix.

Instead, the show will go to HBO Max at some point after the season has wrapped on The CW. The series' HBO Max release date, however, has not been announced and is not featured the February release schedule for the streamer. However, the streaming service will have plenty for DC fans while they wait for Superman & Lois, with the streamer getting the so-called 'Snyder cut' of Justice League in March.

What to expect from Superman & Lois

The plot synopsis reads: "In Superman & Lois, after years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world's most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent and comic books' most famous journalist, Lois Lane, come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever—dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society.

"Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan and Jordan could inherit their father's Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang, a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark's first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing.

"The adults aren't the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle's rebellious daughter, Sarah.

"Of course, there's never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois' father, General Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment's notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois' return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger enters their lives."

Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT on The CW.
