Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur is the most likely destination for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley this summer, according to reports.

With Barkley's contract at Goodison Park expiring at the end of next season and the club keen for him to sign an extension, this summer marks a crucial point in the 23-year-old's future at Everton.

But Pochettino, a long-time admirer of the England midfielder, would like to add Barkley to his English contingent in north London, which includes Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Eric Dier.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham is leading the race for Barkley as Pochettino believes the midfielder could now play alongside Alli.

In the Premier League this season, he has scored four times and assisted seven goals, building a formidable partnership with striker Romelu Lukaku.

Barkley is currently on international duty with England, in the squad to play a friendly against Germany on Wednesday and a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday.
