'NXT' Results: Velveteen Dream & Finn Balor Look to Earn Spot at Takeover 30

It's the final NXT before this weekend's Takeover event, and there are still some superstars looking to earn a spot on the show.

First we have Johnny Gargano looking to earn a spot in the North American Championship ladder match on Saturday. The former NXT Champion will look to overcome the upstart from NXT UK Ridge Holland.

Second, we have Finn Balor taking on Velveteen Dream for the final spot in Saturday's ladder match. Dream made a surprise return last week, but couldn't pull out the victory. He and Balor will get a second chance to participate at Takeover 30 to take on the winner of Gargano/Holland, Cameron Grimes, Bronson Reed and Damian Priest.

The Robert Stone Brand and their new recruit, Mercedes Martinez, are looking to take over the NXT Women's Division. After disposing of Kacy Cantanzaro and Kayden Carter, The Robert Stone Brand wanted to send a statement, but Shotzi Blackheart and Rhea Ripley had other plans.

Ripley and Blackheart will team up to take on Martinez and Aliyah tonight.

Former NXT Champion Adam Cole will meet with former NFL player Pat McAfee tonight ahead of their match this weekend. The last time both men were in the same arena, McAfee took a boot to Cole's head, how will the leader of the Undisputed Era react to McAfee's presence tonight?

NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar and his Legado del Fantasma crew will team up against Isaiah "Swerve" Scott and Breezango. Swerve has been on a roll lately, and a victory tonight could put him in title contention for the Cruiserweight Championship.

NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai is set to take on Dakota Kai this Saturday. Will we see a confrontation between these two women before the event?

Imperium continue their dominance over the NXT Tag Team Division, but will they have a match at Takeover 30?

Here's what happened on the August 19 episode of NXT.
