2023 Ford Maverick Gets Off-Road Ready Tremor Treatment

Ford Motor Company is expanding its Tremor family of trucks to include the 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor. The Ford Ranger, F-150, and Super Duty already come with a similar package, tuned and itemized for each model's needs.

"Ranger, F-150 and Super Duty customers have embraced the unique off-road capability, technology and appearance updates found across our Tremor family of trucks," said Todd Eckert, Ford truck product marketing and brand manager.

"Maverick Tremor delivers on this same promise with new functions and features designed for off-roading – all while keeping the truck's signature size, affordability, and Built Ford Tough durability and capability."

The new Maverick Tremor Off-Road Package ($2,995) will allow enthusiasts to go further away from the pavement in their compact pickup truck. Ford is making the package available on XLT and Lariat trim level models.

It builds on the FX4 package that's currently offered with Maverick. The equipment list includes unique front and rear shocks, a heavy-duty transmission cooler, and upgraded half-shafts. Mavericks equipped with the Tremor package have a 1-inch lift.

It is only offered on Maverick pickups that are powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain makes 250 horsepower (hp) and 277 pound-feet (lb-ft) of torque. All-wheel drive is standard.

The EPA rated the 2022 Maverick equipped with the same powertrain at 25 miles per gallon (mpg) combined with 412 miles of total range.

Maverick Tremor models have a max tow rating of 2,000 pounds and a payload rating of 1,200 pounds. The maximum payload is 300 pounds less than the typical Mavericks sold with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost but the standard towing capacity is the same. Tremor trucks are not available with Ford's 4K Tow Package, which increases the capacity.

Trail Control technology comes standard on the truck. It operates like cruise control for off-road driving, allowing drivers to set a speed then let the technology take over throttle and braking.

Tremor Orange accents feature throughout the inside and outside of the model. On the exterior the color can be found on tow hooks and wheels. Inside, it features as an accent color.

Maverick Tremor models come with a unique grille and blacked out Ford logos, taillamps and headlamps. With the available Tremor Appearance Package ($1,495), customers can add a Carbonized Gray-painted roof and mirror caps, and black graphics on the hood and lower body.

The truck's seats are Black Onyx with the word "Tremor" embroidered on the headrest.

Currently, the only other small truck on the market in the U.S. is the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The Santa Cruz does not come in an off-road variant.

Order banks for the expanded 2023 model year Maverick lineup will open in September. The truck is manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Sonora, Mexico.
