What to Expect From the 'American Horror Story' Season 10 Finale

Season 10 of American Horror Story is set to come to an end with a 10th episode that will wrap up its two-part storyline.

The season has been split into separate storylines titled "Red Tide" and "Death Valley," with the second half exploring an alien invasion of America in the 1950s and the repercussions of this event decades later.

The show reveals how the aliens made an agreement with President Dwight D. Eisenhower (Neal McDonough) and have been experimenting on humans up to the present day.

Episode 9, "Blue Moon," ended on a dramatic note after college student Cal (Nico Greetham) gave birth to an alien-human hybrid in secret with the help of his partner Troy (Isaac Cole Powell)—only for the child to attack him.

So, what can fans expect from the finale?

The Aliens Continue to Work With the U.S. Government

One of the key themes of "Death Valley" is Eisenhower's internal struggle over allowing aliens to abduct and experiment on American citizens in exchange for new technology.

Eisenhower and his Vice President Richard Nixon (Craig Sheffer) have been aware of the invaders since they arrived in the 1950s, while John F. Kennedy (Mike Vogel) and Lyndon B. Johnson (Karl Makinen) were told the secret when they were in the White House.

Judging from the teaser trailer for the finale, it appears the episode will focus on Nixon's years as president from 1969 to 1974.

Eisenhower and his wife Mamie (Sarah Paulson) remain important to the storyline as they are seen discussing the aliens even when the former president is on his death bed.

Also in the teaser trailer, the aliens' spokesperson Valiant Thor (Cody Fern) informs President Nixon that they aim to have a perfect hybrid by 2021.

The Alien-Human Hybrids Will Take Control

Given the end of Episode 9, it is likely that Cal's alien-human hybrid will start attacking the other humans kept in Area 51.

Cal's friends Kendall (Kaia Gerber) and Jamie (Rachel Hilson) are also still pregnant with hybrids, so they may be taken by the alien Theta (Angelica Ross) and induced into giving birth before they are attacked.

One or more of Cal, Kendall and Jamie's babies could be the perfect human-alien hybrid whose arrival was predicted by Valiant Thor. And if the hybrids have been perfected, it won't be long before they take control of Earth.

The American Horror Story Season 10 finale airs on FX on Wednesday, October 20, at 10pm ET. It will be available to stream on Hulu the next day.
