The 10 Best New TV Series to Watch on Streaming Platforms this December

December is almost upon us, and with it a whole host of new shows to binge before the end of the year.

Streaming platforms have a number of great series set to be released in the final month of 2021, with some shows sadly coming to an end and others shows just beginning.

Viewers will be taken to from a galaxy far, far away to the Kaer Morhen, or even to Paris for an exciting month of TV.

Feast your eyes on what Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, and more have in store for subscribers in December.

1. The Witcher, December 17 - Netflix

Henry Cavill returns as Geralt of Rivia for the next instalment of The Witcher, Netflix's hit fantasy series based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels.

The show will follow on from the first season's dramatic finale which saw Geralt finally unite with Princess Ciri (Freya Allen) while Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) went missing following the battle of Sodden Hill.

Fans will be happy to know the show has already been renewed for a third season ahead of Season 2's release.

2. The Book of Boba Fett, December 29 - Disney+

Disney+ has become the new home for Star Wars, with Lucasfilm looking to capitalize on the success of The Mandalorian.

The Book of Boba Fett is the next show in the iconic sci-fi franchise to be released and it will focus on the fan-favorite bounty hunter (played by Temuera Morrison), with episodes airing on a weekly basis.

Set in the aftermath of the events of The Mandalorian Season 2, the series centres on Boba Fett's takeover of Jabba the Hutt's former territory alongside Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).

3. The Expanse, December 10 - Amazon Prime Video

The Expanse will return to Amazon Prime Video for a sixth and final season, which will air weekly on the streaming platform.

Based on James S. A. Corey's sci-fi novels of the same name, the show will see the crew of the Rocinante go on one final set of adventures.

4. Money Heist, December 3 - Netflix

After becoming a global phenomenon on Netflix, Money Heist is going to come to an end with the second half of its fifth and final season.

The crime drama will follow its crew of plucky bank robbers as they try to survive their most dangerous fight yet during their takeover of the Bank of Spain.

With the army hot on their tails and many of their crew members dead, it's hard to tell who will make it out in the final 5 episodes.

5. And Just Like That..., December 9 - HBO Max

Sex and The City is back! Well, almost. The revival of the beloved drama will be debut on HBO Max on December 9, and it'll be released weekly thereafter.

While it won't have Kim Cattrall's Samantha in it, many of the original cast such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Chris Noth will be returning.

The new show will follow Carrie (Parker), Charlotte (Davis), and Miranda (Nixon) as they navigate life in New York City, their romances and friendships in their 50s.

6. Emily In Paris, December 22 - Netflix

Lily Collins' Emily will return to the small screen for another adventure in the city of Paris as a marketing executive in the French capital.

Be prepared for even more romance, drama and stunning fashion from everyone that appears on screen.

7. Cobra Kai, December 31 - Netflix

Season 4 of Cobra Kai will land on Netflix just before 2021 comes to a close, and looks to be a great show to binge over the New Year.

The Karate Kid sequel series will continue to follow Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), and their prodigies.

It will once again focus on the rivalry between Lawrence and LaRusso, as well as the re-introduction of Karate Kid 3's big-bad Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith).

8. Queer Eye, December 31 - Netflix

Not satisfied with releasing one show on New Year's Eve, Netflix are also set to share the sixth season of Queer Eye on the streaming platform.

The newest edition of the reality series will see Karamo Brown, Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, Bobby Berk and Antoni Porowski return for more heart-warming episodes.

This time around, the Fab Five will be helping people in Austin, Texas.

9. Queen of the Universe, December 2 - Paramount+

If the many iterations of RuPaul's Drag Race weren't enough for you, Paramount+ are about to launch a whole new original series titled Queen of the Universe, which is the first drag singing competition.

Drag Race mainstay Michelle Visage will be on hand to judge alongside drag icons Trixie Mattel and Jujubee, and Leona Lewis, while Graham Norton will host the show.

The singing competition show will see drag queens from around the globe perform in the hopes of winning the coveted title of "Ultimate Queen of the Universe".

10. With Love, December 17 - Amazon Prime Video

For your romantic-comedy fix, look no further than Amazon Prime Video's new series With Love, which will debut on the platform on December 17.

The five-part series follows brother and sister Lily (Emeraude Toubia) and Jorge (Mark Indelicato) as they embark on a quest to find love and a purpose in life during the holiday season.
