Death of Casey White's Ex-Girlfriend to Be Re-Examined by Cops Amid Escape

The death of Casey White's ex-girlfriend will be reevaluated by a sheriff's department in Alabama for any connection to the capital murder suspect, who is still at large after escaping from prison last week.

According to local Alabama TV station WAFF 48, the Limestone County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Wednesday night that they will re-examine a 2008 case that was initially ruled a suicide but could possibly be connected to Casey White.

This news comes as the hunt for Casey White and corrections officer Vicky White continues, with the pair last having been seen on April 29. Vicky White is suspected of helping Casey White escape from the Lauderdale County Jail and the two are believed to be on the run together.

The case that the sheriff's department is going to look into involves the death of Christy Shelton, who was found dead in her home in 2008. According to WAFF-TV, while the case was initially ruled a suicide, Shelton's family has continued to question that finding and felt that Casey White could have been potentially involved in Shelton's death, as the two were dating at the time. Shelton's family has also said that Casey White was present when she died, according to WAFF.

If officials determine that Casey White is in fact connected to the 2008 death of his ex-girlfriend, it will further add to his list of past criminal cases. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Casey White was currently being held in the Lauderdale County Jail on capital murder charges, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Connie Ridgeway, 58, which occurred in September 2020. However, this was not the first time Casey White had run-ins with law enforcement.

According to court records reviewed by Fox News, in 2010, Casey White pleaded guilty to a domestic assault, after he was accused of attacking a man with an axe.

The U.S. Marshals Service also said in a recent press release that prior to the capital murder allegations in 2020, Casey White was serving a 75-year prison sentence for a "2015 crime spree that involved home invasion, carjacking, and a police chase." Casey White also allegedly threatened to kill another one of his ex-girlfriends, as well as his sister in 2015, the U.S. Marshals Service said on Wednesday.

Additionally, the Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton previously said that in 2020, Casey White had a plan to escape from prison.

Amid the ongoing manhunt for the two Whites, who are not related, police have issued an arrest warrant for Vicky White. The former corrections officer with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office is accused of helping Casey White escape from jail.

"Anyone with information on the Whites' location is urged to contact law enforcement. You can call the USMS Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102," the U.S. Marshals Service said.
