Godfall: Challenger Edition is being given away for free on the Epic Games Store this week, alongside Prison Architect.
What Is the Epic Games Store Giveaway?
Epic Games is giving away free games every week in 2021, with at least one new title being offered each Thursdays at 11 a.m. ET.
These free titles are only available for a 7 day period, at which point they are replaced by the next giveaway, so make sure to grab them while you still can.
To download your free game of the week, head to the Epic Games Store and create a new account or sign in to an existing one. Once you're logged in, hit the "get" button and download the game, which will be yours to keep forever.
Newsweek will be updating this article each week with the latest free game, so be sure to check back here every Thursday to see what's next on the list, or what you may have missed.
Unidentified Mystery Game

At the time of writing, Epic has not confirmed what the next game to be released on their digital storefront will be.
In the place where you would normally see the artwork for an upcoming giveaway, there is just a gift-wrapped box and a live timer that is counting down to 5:30 p.m. ET. When it reaches zero, the identity of the mystery game will be revealed. There are even rumors circulating online that there could be several titles featured here, as opposed to just one or two.
Godfall: Challenger Edition (December 9-16)

Godfall is similar to your typical looter shooter (ala Borderlands), only instead of guns the emphasis here is placed on melee weapons. Rather than being set in the distant future, the game takes place in a high-fantasy world where you (and up to three friends) must try to prevent an imminent apocalypse.
Godfall: Challenger Edition contains all the base game content, but also gives you earlier access to certain pieces of gear and lets you reach the max of level of some classes instantaneously.
Godfall has a "Weak" rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score of 60.
Prison Architect (December 9-16)

The title of Prison Architect is relatively self-explanatory. In this management sim, you oversee the daily operations and construction of a maximum-security penitentiary. As the warden, it's you job to hire staff, prevent the spread of disease, avoid litigation and stop gangs forming under your watch.
Prison Architect has a "Strong" rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score of 80.
Dead by Daylight (December 2-9)

Dead by Daylight is a hugely popular asymmetrical multiplayer game, in which one person takes on the role of a deranged serial killer and everybody else must evade them as would-be victims. The title actually made it into Newsweek's list of the scariest games ever made, so we definitely recommend that you give it a shot if you haven't already.
It'll be of particular interest to horror fans, as it includes crossover DLC with iconic movies like Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hellraiser.
Dead by Daylight has a "Fair" rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score of 70.

The only way to find out if it's worth your time is to download it and give it a try.
Antstream Arcade Epic Welcome Pack (November 25 - December 2)

This week's offering is a little bit different, as it's not actually a game itself, but rather currency that can be exchanged for multiple games. If you are not familiar with it, Antstream is a virtual arcade where you can play retro titles like Earthworm Jim, Mortal Kombat and Pacman.
Rather than using quarters to keep your play sessions going, you instead spend gems. This currency can also be used to unlock harder challenges and to play against others online. This Epic Welcome pack contains 1090 of these gems, which is the equivalent of $14.99.

Guild of Dungeoneering has a "Strong" rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score of 75.
Kid a Mnesia Exhibition (November 18-25)

Kid A Mnesia is a mysterious new virtual exhibition devised by Radiohead. Little is known about the project at the time of writing, as it will be debuting on the Epic Games Store on November 18. For now, all we have to go by is the official description which is incredibly vague.
