'Immortalized'

“It is the closest residence to the Hollywood Sign, a location steeped in history, myth and creative energy," the Zillow listing states.

"The structure itself feels like a sculpture, an angular wood-framed ode to mid-century modernism, softened by time and surrounded by raw California wilderness."

According to the Zillow listing, the property was once home to members of the, “1960's band The Association.”

However, the history doesn’t stop there, as the house was “immortalized” in a photography book published by Sir Paul McCartney’s late wife, Linda McCartney.

The listing claims that the property, “is the birthplace of the first computer-generated people and has welcomed countless artists, dreamers and travelers over the years.”

In the post on Reddit, Radiant-Stranger-992 called the home’s history “impressive.”

The listing price surprised many pundits who expected a higher cost for a house so close to the Hollywood Sign.

“$2.2M is not bad at all for a 2500 sq ft sfh in LA," remarked one, adding, "It sits on a 0.28 acre plot, I wonder if there's a catch."

'My dream house'

For some commentators, the location alone made the property appealing.

“That house, that exact house has been my dream house for decades,” a fan shared.

While many contributors admired the property, the conversation also turned to possible factors affecting the listing price.

“My only though is wildfire risk, but that place is remarkably cheap for that size in that location," a pundit considered, adding, "Try buying something like that in Beverly Hills for that price."

Wildfire risk is often a concern for hillside homes across Southern California where dry vegetation and steep terrain can increase fire danger during certain times of year.

Others responded more casually to the listing’s retro look and hillside views.

“Groovy, man,” an individual quipped.

When Real Estate Listings Go Viral

Unusual or unexpected property listings often spread widely online as people examine listing photos and details.

Newsweek reported on an “Alice in Wonderland-themed” house for sale in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The property, which is being listed for $235,000, includes one bedroom and one bathroom across 950 square feet.

Another Newsweek story covered a $30 million Utah mansion that went viral as it mimicked a Hobbiton home from The Lord of the Rings movie franchise.
