Jason Sudeikis Mocks Joe Biden Smelling Women's Hair in SNL Opening

Actor Jason Sudeikis returned to Saturday Night Live (SNL) and mocked encounters that President Joe Biden has had with women.

Ted Lasso star Sudeikis shared the stage with new SNL cast member James Austin Johnson where the pair played two different versions of President Biden, one from the past and the other from the present day.

During the sketch, Johnson's present-day Biden lamented his low approval rating and added: "I don't understand. People used to like me.

"The press would call me Uncle Joe. I miss the old me. Where the hell did that guy go?"

Then, Sudeikis appeared on stage while dressed as Biden during his Vice President years in the Barack Obama administration.

Johnson's Biden then asked: "Wait a second, who are you?"

Sudeikis's Biden replied: "What do you mean who am I, man? I'm you from eight years ago, buddy. The ghost of Biden past. Boo."

Explaining why he seemed more relaxed, Sudeikis's Biden added: "From where I'm from, we're still VP. Easiest gig in the world. We're like America's wacky neighbor. Shake a few hands, rub a few shoulders."

Sudeikis then started to rub Johnson's shoulders and said: "Here. Come on. Let me get you loose, huh. Let me take a whiff. That's good. See, that ain't creepy.

"Hey, and look, I hope this isn't sexist, but you got to smile more, sweetie. Okay?"

Johnson's Biden then said: "Well, you can't do that anymore."

Sudeikis's Biden asked: "What, which one? Rubbing shoulders or shaking hands?"

"Apparently both," Johnson's Biden replied.

The shoulder-rubbing and hair smelling is a reference to infamous occasions between President Biden and several women.

A notable example was when then-Vice President Biden held the shoulders of Stephanie Carter and appeared to whisper in her ear during the swearing-in of her husband Ash as Secretary of Defense in 2015.

Carter later addressed the controversy in a 2019 Medium article where she said: "The Joe Biden in my picture is a close friend helping someone get through a big day, for which I will always be grateful."

She added the photo "misleadingly extracted from what was a longer moment between close friends."

Biden faced accusations that he inappropriately touched women, which were also used by Republicans in 2019 to attack him as "Creepy Joe Biden."

The Great America PAC used audio of accuser Lucy Flores who detailed her encounter with the then-Vice President where she claimed he approached her from behind and kissed her during a 2014 campaign event.
