Joe Biden Bird Poop Video Viewed 2M Times as Critics Gleefully Share Clip

Critics have taken the opportunity to mock President Joe Biden after a bird appeared to poop on his suit during a speech he was delivering in a barn in Menlo, Iowa on Tuesday.

The president was speaking about inflation and his efforts to lower costs for Americans when the incident took place. Footage of the moment had been viewed around two million times on Twitter as of Wednesday morning.

One version of the video from Republican National Committee (RNC) Research had received 1.1 million views, while another video posted by conservative Nick Adams had racked up more than 698,000 views. Other videos of the incident were also circulating on Twitter and garnering thousands of views.

"Did a bird just poop on Joe Biden?" RNC Research wrote on their Twitter account.

The video appears to show bird poop falling onto Biden's left lapel just above his U.S. flag pin. Critics of the president were sharing the footage and using it to make fun of Biden.

Just before the incident occurred on Tuesday, Biden had been addressing the cost of living.

"I'm here today to talk about what we're doing to lower costs for American families and put rural America at the center of our efforts to build a future that's made in America," the president said.

"That's not hyperbole!" Biden said. He didn't appear to notice the splatter on his lapel and continued speaking.

White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield took to Twitter and disputed the idea that the offending material was bird feces.

"If you guys knew your way around a corn silo at all, you'd know it was corn," Bedingfield said, retweeting RNC Research.

Bloomberg White House correspondent Justin Sink agreed, tweeting: "it was bits of corn flying around from the corn silo; the event was indoors."

Whether it was corn or bird poop, the president's critics seized the opportunity to mock him.

"Even the birds know he's a crappy president!" wrote Adams, who describes himself as a bestselling author "endorsed by President Trump."

Donald Trump Jr., eldest son of former President Donald Trump, went further and suggested that the bird was somehow representative of how Americans are feeling.

"Even the birds know," Trump Jr. tweeted. "Apparently a bird just s**t on Biden in Iowa. That bird speaks for anyone who's filled their tank or gone shopping in the last 18 months."

Brigitte Gabriel, founder and chairman of conservative group ACT for America, expressed a similar sentiment, writing: "Even the birds don't respect Joe Biden!"

Conservative website The Daily Caller shared the video and tweeted from its account: "A bird pooped on Joe Biden during a speech in Iowa. He's probably gonna blame Putin, isn't he?"

During his remarks in Iowa on Tuesday, Biden appeared to accuse Russia of committing genocide in its ongoing invasion of Ukraine for the first time. He also placed blame on Russian President Vladimir Putin for rising prices.

"Your family budget, your ability to fill up your tank—none of it should hinge on whether a dictator declares war and commits genocide a half a world away," the president said.

The president later told reporters before boarding Air Force One: "Yes, I called it genocide" and added that, "It's become clearer and clearer that Putin is just trying to wipe out the idea of even being a Ukrainian."

Newsweek has asked the White House for comment.
