Who Is Timothy Granison? Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren's Husband Arrested

The husband of Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has been charged with drugs and firearm offenses after New York state troopers conducted a search warrant at their home.

Timothy Granison, 42, has appeared at the Monro County Hall of Justice charged with criminal possession of firearm and two counts of criminal possession of controlled substance.

Granison was reportedly the target of the State Police raid at the address at 3 Woodman Park Wednesday evening.

Granison was released on his own recognizance after pleading not guilty to the allegations against him.

He is due to appear next in court on June 21 to face the charges, one day before the primary election where Warren is seeking a third term as mayor.

In a brief statement, the New York State Police confirmed they conducted a search at Mayor Warren's home as part of an "ongoing criminal investigation."

The State Police and the Monroe County District Attorney are due to hold a press conference on Thursday to provide further details on the charges.

The mayor's office released a statement to several media outlets about the search at her home.

"The mayor is just learning about the events that unfolded this afternoon and has no more information than the rest of the community," spokesman Justin Roj said.

"She hopes to learn more details this evening and will have a statement [Thursday]."

Warren is facing campaign fraud charges after allegedly evading campaign contribution limits during her 2017 run for a second term as mayor.

The Monroe County District Attorney's office previously told The Associated Press that the police search of her home wasn't connected to those charges.

Who is Timothy Granison?

Granison lives at the address on 93 Woodman Park with his wife. The couple have one child together.

A 2012 profile of Warren states that Granison worked for Catholic Charities Community Services and United Parcel Service of America Inc.

Granison was the focus of media attention in 2013 when Warren confirmed that he was arrested as a 17-year-old for his part in an armed robbery before she took office

Granison received a 5-year probation after pleading guilty to second-degree robbery in connection to the armed robbery at The Source jewelry store, which police said Granison was the getaway driver for.

Because of his age and the nature of the offense, Warren said he was adjudicated a youthful offender.

"The file is sealed, and he does not have a criminal record," Warren said in a statement at the time.

"Tim learned a great deal from the experience, and is now a loving husband, father and contributing member of our community. What happened with Tim is illustrative of what happens to too many young people in our community who are growing up in very difficult circumstances and get caught up in things that they should not."

Warren said her husband's experience shows why it is "very important for us to reach out to our youth, help them get a good education" and into the workforce.

"Lots of young people make mistakes—the important thing is that as a community, we don't give up on them and help them find a better path, just as Tim did," Warren said.

Warren and the New York State Department have been contacted for comment.
