NFL Preseason: Where to Watch Los Angeles Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers, TV Channel, Live Stream, Odds

The verdicts delivered by preseason football have to be taken with a pinch of salt but the San Francisco 49ers will have breathed a sigh of relief after Week 3.

Jimmy Garoppolo went 14-of-20 for 188 yards and a touchdown as the 49ers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-17 on Saturday night.

In the stadium where he tore his ACL in Week 3 of the 2018 regular season, the 49ers quarterback finished with a passer rating of 116.2, just a week after posting a 0.0 passer rating in the defeat against the Denver Broncos.

It was a welcome improvement for Garoppolo, who is looking to return to full fitness after such a devastating injury.

"Leading up to it and everything, enough people talked about it. I definitely thought about it," the former New England Patriots signal caller was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. "But it's good to get it out of the way, I think is the best way to put it."

Garoppolo is unlikely to see much action against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday in the final game of preseason, with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan set to rest his starters to avoid injuries.

While San Francisco is 3-0 in preseason, the Chargers have lost all their three games so far. The most recent defeat came at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night, with the Chargers losing 23-15 on home turf as they failed to move the scoreboard in two quarters.

Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen were rested for a third game in a row, while Melvin Gordon is still holding out for a new contract.

The running back told the Chargers last month he would not report to training camp until he got a new contract and he has stuck to his word so far.

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that the franchise was unwilling to raise their offer of $10 million per year, while the first pick of the 2015 draft wants a deal close to the top end of the market for running backs.

Specifically, Gordon is understood to want a deal close to those signed by Todd Gurley and Le'Veon Bell, who penned four-year deals worth $14.3 million and $13.1 million per year respectively.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Thursday.

When and where is the game?

The Los Angeles Chargers take on the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, August 29 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time (10 p.m. ET).

TV coverage

The game will be nationally broadcast by NFL Network. Local coverage will be provided by CBS affiliate KPIX in the San Francisco area and by ABC affiliate KABC in the Los Angeles area.

Live stream

A live stream will be available via NFL Network online and on connected devices, as well as via fuboTV.

Form

The 49ers have signed veteran wideout Nick Williams to add some depth at receiver, after losing Jalen Hurd, Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor to injuries.

San Francisco, however, released linebacker Malcolm Smith, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII, who made just 12 appearances in two injury-riddled seasons.

With Garoppolo unlikely to feature on Thursday, Nick Mullens could get more snaps.

The back-up quarterback finished eight-for-11 for 84 yards against the Chiefs, while Jeff Wilson topped the rushing charts with 45 yards over 12 carries.
The Chargers' running game, meanwhile, struggled. With Gordon still out, Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson combined for just 23 yards against the Seahawks.

Philip Rivers is expected to sit out against the 49ers, which means Tyrod Taylor and Easton Stick will again be involved.

Taylor, the designated back-up to Rivers, completed six of nine passes for 61 yards against the Seahawks, while Stick went 12-of-16 for 82 yards and one touchdown.

Odds

According to Oddschecker, the 49ers are a four-point favorite and are 91/100 to win and cover the spread, while the Chargers are 17/10 to win and the over/under bar in terms of points scored is set at 34.
