A new Pokémon Go update has rolled out for iOS and Android devices, and it includes some interesting tidbits about the future of the popular mobile game in its coding.

UPDATE: Lucky Pokémon has been confirmed. Here's how to get one.

According to fan site Pokémon Go Hub, the code within the 0.111.2 update of Pokémon Go shows markings that label Pokémon as "Lucky." The label is also found within the game's Pokedex, similar to how players can search for the term "Shiny" to find all of the corresponding Pokémon. Lucky Pokémon also have special backgrounds when you look at them in-game.

It's not clear yet what Lucky Pokémon are, but the difference between them and their normal counterparts seems to come from the lesser amount of Stardust needed to power them up.

On Sunday, the official Pokémon Go Twitter account released an image of the trading feature in the game, showing a Pikachu and Chansey with the "Lucky" sparkling backgrounds. Eagle-eyed players noticed the amount of Stardust needed to power up Chansey is half of what it normally takes, going from 2500 to 1250.

Niantic should reveal more information on this new Pokémon Go feature soon, and we'll update as soon as we learn more information about Lucky Pokémon.

Stardust is becoming more and more necessary in Pokémon Go after the introduction of trading.TEach Pokémon requires a specific amount of Stardust to trade. Shiny, Event-Exclusive or Legendary Pokémon require more and trainers can only do these "Special" trades once a day.

This new update comes off the heels of Niantic teasing Gen 4 in special artwork that showed the Sinnoh Region starters, Chimchar, Piplup and Turtwig. That's not to mention Registeel appearing in Raid Battles for a limited time (likely followed by Regirock) and Eevee Community Day in August.
