Everton is on the verge of signing Swansea defender Ashley Williams after a £10 million ($13 million) deal was agreed between the clubs, according to reports.

The Wales captain has been a long-term target of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger but now looks set to be on his way to Goodison Park.

The biggest movements on Merseyside this summer have been in management. Ronald Koeman left Southampton to become Roberto Martinez's permanent replacement at Everton, while Steve Walsh, the highly respected coach at Leicester City, became director of football at Goodison.

According to The Guardian, Williams has been a leading target in the transfer window for both Koeman and Walsh, especially with John Stones expected to join Manchester City.

Another hole in the Everton starting line-up may come up front as Romelu Lukaku looks to be on his way back to Chelsea just two years after leaving Stamford Bridge.
