Usain Bolt proved himself as the greatest sprinter of all time in the early hours of Monday morning, winning gold in the 100 meters final in Rio for the third Olympic Games in a row.

Bolt's time of 9.81 seconds lagged well behind his 9.63-second winning time from the London Games four years ago, but was still enough to defeat his great rival Justin Gatlin, who had opened up a gap at halfway.

Elsewhere, there was more success for Great Britain on the track, as Jason Kenny defeated team mate Callum Skinner in the individual men's sprint final.

In tennis, Andy Murray defeated Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina in four sets to successfully defend the Olympic title he won four years ago in London.
