Today's Wordle #457 Answer, Hints and Clues for Monday, September 19 Game

Wordle became one of the internet's favorite daily online puzzles shortly after its 2021 release, with millions attempting to crack the five-letter word of the day.

Software engineer Josh Wardle released his project online at the end of 2021, having perfected the game during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The game, a play on Wardle's name, was initially created for his partner, Palak Shah, who enjoyed puzzles.

A friend of the photographer plays "Wordle" on January 12, 2022 in New York City. Created by Josh Wardle, Wordle, which is a pun on his name, is a five-letter word guessing game that gives the user six tries to guess the word correctly and is changed daily.

The game soared to success, and it was acquired by The New York Times Company for an undisclosed sum earlier this year.

Millions play the game daily, drawn in by its simple formula: crack a five-letter word in six tries or less, following a color-coded grid system, although generally, the fewer attempts it takes to get the final answer, the better.

A letter that's in the correct position will turn a tile green, while a letter that is included in the answer, but is in the incorrect position, will turn a tile yellow. Finally, the tile will turn gray if you select a letter that is incorrect altogether, meaning that it isn't part of the Wordle of the day at all.

Wardle previously told Newsweek that he liked the idea that "everyone around the world was trying to solve the exact same word at the exact same time."

He said: "It created a shared communal experience [If] there were multiple puzzles to solve and everyone was at a different stage, then there wouldn't be that kind of conversation, which I think is the most fulfilling part of Wordle."
