'Operation: Sky Fire': Start Time and How to Join the 'Fortnite' Event Live

Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 7 will soon be coming to an explosive end, as "Operation: Sky Fire" draws near. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming live event, including when it starts and how to join.

With a unique alien invasion theme, Fortnite's latest season has been particularly eventful. Over the course of three months, we have seen extra-terrestrial parasites swarm the island, players being transported into the mothership for bizarre experiments, and even whole regions of the map being ripped from the Earth.

What Is "Operation: Sky Fire"?

On that last note, Corny Complex is the latest area to be targeted by the mothership's tractor beam. If you head over to the farm right now, you will notice that chunks of the ground are being pulled up towards the alien vessel, creating a kind of low-gravity platforming arena.

This provides the contextual background for the imminent "Operation: Sky Fire" event. It turns out that the Imagined Order (IO) had foreseen the abduction of Corny Complex and attached a series of bombs underneath the landmass itself. Their plan is then to detonate these explosive devices once they are aboard the alien mothership.

"Operation: Sky Fire" will depict how this mission unfolds, by letting gamers actually participate in it.

When Does "Operation: Sky Fire" Start?

"Operation: Sky Fire" is essentially Fortnite Season 7's grand finale and will close the book on the alien invasion subplot.

The event will begin on Sunday, September 12, with a start time of 4 p.m. ET. There is no official word on how long it will take, but these things usually last about 20 minutes. You can set a reminder for yourself by favoriting the below tweet from the official Fortnite account.

The Mothership's sights are set on the IO's base. Slone has a plan to end the Invasion for good. Are you ready?

Given that this is a live event, you will only have one chance to participate in "Operation: Sky Fire". Unlike the recent Arianna Grande Rift Tour, there won't be multiple time slots to choose from here. With that being said, if you miss the start time, then you will simply have to catch up by watching a recording later on YouTube or Twitch.

How To Join "Operation: Sky Fire"

According to Epic Games' website, the "Operation: Sky Fire" playlist will become available at 3:30 p.m. ET.

To guarantee that you are able to join, it is recommended that you log in to Fortnite at this time and reserve your space on the mission early. This will admittedly mean that you have to spend the next half an hour waiting around in a lobby, but at least you will be ready to play.

Once "Operation: Sky Fire" has commenced, all Chapter 2, Season 7 content will be vaulted. This means that you only have a couple of days left to redeem any outstanding battle pass rewards, track down the remaining alien artifacts, and finish off the new legendary questline.

When the event is over, the Fortnite servers will be temporarily shut down while Epic Games rolls out the version 18.00 update (aka Chapter 2, Season 8).

The theme for this next season has yet to be confirmed but Newsweek has summarized everything that we do know here.
