Where to Find Every Ultra Beast in 'Pokémon Sword and Shield' Crown Tundra DLC

Ultra Beasts are a new subset of Legendary Pokémon that were introduced in the Sun and Moon games and can now be found and caught in The Crown Tundra DLC for Sword and Shield.

These Pokémon from another dimension don't appear the second you step foot in The Crown Tundra. In fact, the Ultra Beasts have their own special side mission that will unlock after trainers meet some requirements.

To unlock the Ultra Beast mission in The Crown Tundra DLC, trainers will have to complete Peony's three Legendary missions.

Complete the main story featuring Calyrex, the side mission featuring the Regis, and the third mission featuring the Galarian Legendary Bird Pokémon and Peony will give a fourth and final quest for trainers.

Meet him in the Dynamax Adventure cave and he'll talk about the Ultra Beasts and your mission to catch 'em all.

Once you've acquired the fourth mission from Peony, trainers will have to find the Ultra Beasts using the Dynamax Adventure feature.

Make your way through the four battles in each Dynamax Adventure for a chance at finding one of the Ultra Beasts. Of course, you won't know if you've entered an adventure featuring an Ultra Beast until you've actually encountered it, but once you do you can go back to battling it if you fail the first time.

There are nine Ultra Beasts to find in total, each with their own move sets and type combinations. Here's a list of Ultra Beasts that you can find in the Dynamax Adventures with their typings:

  • Nihilego (Rock/Poison)
  • Buzzwole (Bug/Fighting)
  • Pheromosa (Bug/Fighting)
  • Xurkitree (Electric)
  • Celesteela (Steel/Flying)
  • Kartana (Steel/Grass)
  • Guzzlord (Dark/Dragon)
  • Stakataka (Rock/Steel)
  • Blachephelon (Ghost/Fire)

Trainers can also find Ultra Beasts by joining in their Dynamax Adventure via the online feature.

There's one more Ultra Beast that you can obtain in Sword and Shield. Unlike the others, Poipole can be gifted to trainers for catching at least five Ultra Beasts in the Dynamax Adventures.

Inside the Max Lair, speak with the leader of the Dynamax Adventure and she will give you the Ultra Beast.

Poipole comes at Level 20 with the moves Helping Hand, Acid, Fury Attack, and Fell Stinger. This Ultra Beast is unique as it's the only one that can evolve, evolving into Naganadel once it level ups up after learning Dragon Pulse.

Trainers can re-teach Poipole Dragon Pulse using the Move Relearner in any Pokémon Center.

The Crown Tundra DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield is available now for Nintendo Switch.
