Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to the White House after months of reported tension with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Reuters reports, adding to a growing list of high-level departures and shake-ups at the Pentagon. The Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a major victory and allowed his White House Ballroom construction to move forward on Monday, despite conservative Chief Justice John Roberts joining the three liberal justices dissenting and describing the construction as "likely unlawful." A Las Vegas jury found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty Monday in the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur after less than three hours of deliberations.

Hello, I'm Shane Croucher. Welcome to Newsweek's Bulletin. Here's what you need to know today. The US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to the White House according to reports. It follows months of tension with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Driscoll has served as Army Secretary since February 2025. He was an ally of General Randy George, the former Army Chief of Staff, who Hegseth removed earlier this year. Driscoll's exit comes as Hegseth has faced scrutiny over a series of high-profile departures of senior military leaders from the Pentagon. The changes have affected multiple levels of the Defense Department, including senior Army commanders and civilian leadership. The Supreme Court handed President Trump a major victory on Monday when it allowed the construction of his White House ballroom to move forward. The five-to-four decision in Trump's favor overturned an order from a lower court that had halted any above-ground construction. Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberal justices who descended, describing the construction as likely unlawful. The order does not decide the ballroom's legality. Construction may continue as the broader case proceeds, but the Trump administration saying the privately funded project is needed for security. A Las Vegas jury found Duane "Keffe D.' Davis guilty on Monday in the 1996 killing of the rapper Tupac Shakur after less than three hours of deliberations. The former gang leader, 63, was convicted of first-degree murder and could be sentenced to life in prison. The prosecution relied heavily on Davis' own historical statements about Shakur 's killing, including accounts he gave in interviews, documentaries and his memoir. Prosecutors argued that Davis orchestrated the shooting and that his accounts remained consistent on key details. Until next time, that's all for now.
