Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will struggle to retain power, according to latest polling ahead of his first electoral test since the October 2023 Hamas-led attacks and the subsequent conflicts in Gaza, against Iran, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to roughly 60,000 employees, which could reshape more than a quarter of its global workforce. A manhunt is underway for a convicted murderer who authorities said escaped from a prison in northwest Tennessee by slipping through a prison fence and then stealing a truck.

Hello, I'm Alice Gibbs. Welcome to Newsweek's Bulletin. Here's what you need to know today. Israel is holding a national election widely seen as a referendum on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership. Tuesday's vote is the first since Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel and the subsequent wars in the Middle East. Israelis' vote for parties which then form alliances to create a majority coalition. But no single party has ever won a 61-seat majority in the 120-member parliament. Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to roughly 60,000 employees which could reshape more than a quarter of its global workforce. The tech giant confirmed on Monday that eligible employees in the United States, Canada, India and the United Kingdom would receive voluntary exit offers. The timing of the buyout offer arrives as the Trump administration suspended Microsoft from the Labor Department's permanent Labor certification, a program that enables employers to sponsor firm workers for permanent residents. A manhunt is underway for a convicted murderer who authorities say has escaped from a prison in northwest Tennessee by slipping through a prison fence and stealing a truck. Officials realized Jacob Morley, 28, was unaccounted for around 11.30pm on Sunday at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville. Morley was serving a life sentence for killing a co-worker four years ago. That's all for now. See you next time.
