Hello —I’m Dan Orton, Welcome to Newsweek’s Bulletin. Here’s what you need to know today. Meghan Markle has said she is "deeply distressed" by reports that her father, Thomas Markle Sr., is being investigated over child sex abuse images. The Sun reported on Thursday that Markle Sr. is alleged to have kept the images at his home in the Philippines and left them behind when he returned to the United States earlier this year. The Duchess revealed that a 2018 letter sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection contained quote "troubling and disturbing allegations" about her father. She said she was assured the claims were being investigated. The allegations have not been proven and he has not been charged with any offense. Americans in Paris have been warned to "exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings" ahead of an NFL game on Sunday amid violent protests across France. The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints will play the NFL's first game in Paris on Sunday. The U.S. State Department issued a security alert on Thursday, telling Americans in France to "avoid demonstrations and areas of unrest." The U.S. has ordered non-emergency government staff and their families to leave Saudi Arabia as tensions grow in the region. The announcement is due to escalating attacks on the kingdom by the Iranian-backed Houthis. The order includes the embassy in Riyadh and consulates in Jeddah and Dhahran, although the missions have not closed and consular services remain available. That’s all for now – See you next time
