Following her win at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards, Lady Gaga confirmed she will be releasing an album later this year, Billboard reports .

Gaga picked up the award for best performance by an actress in a limited series or TV motion picture for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel.

"You know, I am putting out an album this year." she told reporters.

The Fame Monster singer's last two albums, Born this Way and Artpop both topped the Billboard 200 chart, with combined worldwide sales of 10 million copies.

She is not the only big name to start the year with the promise of a new album. Kanye West released new track "Facts" on New Year's Eve. A week later, his wife Kim Kardashian confirmed that the rapper will release new music every Friday ahead of his new album, Swish—a resurrection of the rapper's 2010 G.O.O.D. Friday series.

Then on January 8, West duly delivered, introducing the world to "New Friends" along with a snippet of "No More Parties in LA" his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar has also gotten in on the new music act. The To Pimp a Butterfly star performed new record "Untitled 2" on January 7 at an appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Rock fans have also had plenty to celebrate. Guns 'N' Roses and LCD Soundsystem both announced they will be reuniting for headline slots at this year's Coachella Festival.

Capping it off, the late David Bowie released his 25th studio album Blackstar to coincide with his 69th birthday just days before he passed away on January 10.
