Following the news of Queen Elizabeth II's death aged 96, many will be looking to remember and pay tribute to Britain's longest-reigning monarch.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the news of her passing on September 8, saying in a statement that she "died peacefully at Balmoral."

Queen Elizabeth II's death comes just 17 months after her husband Prince Philip passed away on April 9, 2021.

Throughout her historic reign, many movies and series have been made documenting Queen Elizabeth II's inspiring life.

The Queen (2006)

With Helen Mirren in the titular role as Elizabeth II, this film follows the royal family in the immediate aftermath of Princess Diana's death in 1997.

Mirren won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Queen.

The King's Speech (2010)

While The King's Speech centers on Queen Elizabeth II's father, she is portrayed as a young child in the movie by actress Freya Wilson.

The story focusses on King George VI, played by Colin Firth, as he tries to overcome his speech impediment with the help of speech therapist Lionel Logue, played by Geoffrey Rush.

Walking the Dogs (2012)

This TV movie sees Emma Thompson play Queen Elizabeth II. Walking the Dogs features the infamous incident which saw Michael Fagan break into Buckingham Palace in 1982.

The intrusion, which is also portrayed in Season 4 of Netflix's The Crown, saw Fagan manage to break into the queen's bedroom.

The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (2012)

This documentary draws on rare archive footage, eyewitness accounts and historical experts to tell the behind-the-scenes story of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Coronation took place on June 2, 1953, at Westminster Abbey in London, following the death of Elizabeth II's father, George VI, in 1952. The queen was just 25 years old at the time of her crowning.
