'Fortnite' X 'The Book of Boba Fett': Release Time and Cost of New Boba Fett Skin

Boba Fett will soon be making his debut in Fortnite, in anticipation of his new Disney + series launching next week.

The intergalactic bounty hunter staged a huge comeback in The Mandalorian last year, with actor Temuera Morrison (who first portrayed the character's ancestor in 2002's Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones) playing a critical role in the second season of the show. Following on from this successful return, it was then announced that he would be leading his own series, entitled The Book of Boba Fett.

The spin-off will begin airing in weekly instalments from Wednesday, December 29, filling the release slot that was previously held on Disney + by the now-concluded Hawkeye. The Book of Boba Fett will focus on the gun-for-hire's adventures in the criminal underworld of Tatooine, where he will try to stake a claim on Jabba the Hutt's leftover territories.

To tie in with the show's imminent premiere on the Disney + streaming service, a Boba Fett outfit will soon be added to the Fortnite Item Shop, giving fans the opportunity to role-play as the iconic sharpshooter.

This is not the first time that the battle royale has crossed over with the Star Wars universe, as The Mandalorian was also offered up as a cosmetic reward back in Chapter 2, Season 5.

When Is the Boba Fett Skin Coming to the 'Fortnite' Item Shop?

Epic Games has confirmed that the Boba Fett crossover will go live at 7 p.m. ET on December 24. For those in other time zones, this translates to 4 p.m. PST or midnight GMT (on Christmas Day).

Prominent data miners have also uncovered a few sneak peeks at the update if you want a better look at what's in store, with a glimpse at what appears to be a new loading screen and the Boba Fett costume itself.

How Much Will the Boba Fett Skin Cost in 'Fortnite'?

Epic Games has yet to announce how much the Boba Fett skin will cost in Fortnite, but if we look at previous crossovers then we can detect a fairly consistent pattern.

The Jinx costume (from Netflix's Arcane series), Bloodsport outfit and Naruto skin were all priced at 1,500 V-bucks when they were released. Each of these debuted as part of wider bundles (packaged with emotes, sprays, back bling and harvesting tool cosmetics) that were a bit more expensive, usually costing somewhere between 2,500 and 2,600 V-bucks.

It is safe to assume that there will be a similar pricing arrangement for the Boba Fett skin. Newsweek has contacted the Epic Games Newsroom to confirm this, but has received no response at the time of writing.

For context, 1,500 V-bucks equates to roughly $10, but it is difficult to do an exact conversion here as you can only purchase the currency in fixed increments of either 1,000, 2,800, 5,000 or 13,500.

In related Fortnite news, the game is currently in the middle of its Winterfest celebration, which means that there are lots of freebies up for grabs. Newsweek has prepared individual guides on how to complete the various challenges associated with this, including one on how to catch chickens, where to find toy biplanes and whether you should exploit the Discord glitch to get Polar Peely early.
