'Octopath Traveler' Character Guide: Ophilia the Cleric

Ophilia Clement is one of the eight characters whom you can choose to play when starting Octopath Traveler. A 20-year-old cleric with a dream, Ophilia resides in the Frostlands.

Her biography states:

"Your name is Ophilia, and you are a cleric.

"You hail from the snowswept Frostlands, where you dutifully serve the Order of the Flame under your adoptive father, the archbishop.

"As your adoptive sister—and best friend—prepares to embark on a perilious pilgrimage, you stand ever at her side.

"But unbeknowst to the both of you, events are about to take a tragic turn..."

Ophilia's meeting story lays out her tragic backstory as an orphan adopted by an archbishop. With the help of her adoptive sister and best friend Lianna, Ophilia emerges from her misery and loneliness. Out of love, Ophilia chooses to undertake holy pilgrimage so that Lianna can stay by their sick father's side.

Ophilia is a healer and starts off with a healing spell as well as a holy light spell. She relies on her magic in order to heal herself, while most of her skills help buff a group while she stays vulnerable. Grabbing damage-dealing skills is a good idea for Ophilia since healing will never be a problem for her.

Ophilia's path action is Guide, which allows her to guide townspeople who will follow Ophilia wherever she goes. This works similarly to the Allure path action and can be used to move quests forward by helping Ophilia guide townspeople to certain items or other people.

Ophilia's talent is Summon, which enables her to summon a townsperson to aid in battle under her guidance. Because Ophilia isn't initially a strong damage dealer, this can be the extra boost she needs to get through her story. Her talent is the same as Primrose's Summon talent.

Ophilia's primary job is Cleric. Clerics can equip staves and have the following bonuses:

  • Max SP +18 percent
  • Elemental Attack +5 percent
  • Elemental Defense +5 percent

Cleric skills are:

  • Heal Wounds (8 SP): Restore HP to all allies.
  • Holy Light (6 SP): Inflict light-based damage on a single foe.
  • Sheltering Veil (6 SP): Augment one ally's elemental defense for two turns.
  • Luminescence (9 SP): Deal light-based damage to all foes.
  • Heal More (25 SP): Restore a large amount of HP to all allies.
  • Reflective Veil (22 SP): Grant a single ally the ability to reflect one elemental attack.
  • Revive (50 SP): Revive all incapacitated allies.
  • Aelfric's Auspices (30 SP, Divine Skill): For two turns, skills performed by a single chosen ally will trigger twice. (This will not affect other Divine Skills.)

Cleric support skills are:

  • Persistence: All status enhancements you receive will last for one additional turn.
  • Inner Strength: Increases the maximum SP of the equipped character by 50.
  • Evil Ward: Increases the party's success rate when attempting to flee. (Equipping this skill with multiple characters will have no added effect.)
  • Saving Grace: Grants the equipping character the ability to be healed above their maximum HP.
